Terms of Service

By accessing or using Tipped ("we", "us", "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the platform.

These terms apply to all visitors, registered users, and anyone who accesses the service. Please also review our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle your personal information.

Tipped is a platform for restaurant and hospitality workers to log their tip earnings and compare anonymized, aggregated tip data across restaurants and cities. The service allows you to:

• Track your personal tip earnings over time
• View aggregated tip data for restaurants (subject to privacy thresholds)
• Export or delete your data at any time

To log tips and access personal features, you must create an account. When you do, you agree to:

• Provide accurate information (you may use a pseudonym for your display name)
• Keep your login credentials secure
• Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access to your account
• Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. If you are under the age of majority in your province, you confirm that a parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to these terms on your behalf.

Tipped is designed to help workers make informed decisions about where they work. You agree not to:

• Submit intentionally false or misleading tip data to manipulate aggregated results
• Create multiple accounts to circumvent privacy thresholds or inflate data
• Use automated tools to scrape, harvest, or extract data from the platform
• Attempt to identify individual users from aggregated data
• Use the platform for any purpose that is unlawful or prohibited by these terms
• Interfere with or disrupt the platform's infrastructure or security

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

You own your data. All tip logs and personal information you submit remain yours. You can export your data or delete your account at any time through the Settings page.

By using Tipped, you grant us a limited license to use your tip data in anonymized, aggregated form to generate public insights (e.g., median earnings per shift at a restaurant). This license exists solely to operate the core product. We will never display your individual tip logs publicly or share them with third parties.

The Tipped platform — including its design, code, branding, and aggregated data presentations — is owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or redistribute the platform or its content without our written permission, except for reasonable personal use of aggregated data displayed to you.

Tipped is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the platform's availability, reliability, or accuracy.

In particular:

• Aggregated tip data reflects user-submitted information and may not be perfectly accurate or representative
• We do not guarantee that the platform will be uninterrupted or error-free
• Tip data should be used as one factor in your decision-making, not the sole basis for employment decisions

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Tipped and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the platform, including but not limited to:

• Loss of income or employment opportunities
• Decisions made based on aggregated tip data
• Unauthorized access to your account
• Service interruptions, data loss, or errors in the platform

Our total liability for any claim arising from these terms or your use of the platform shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or $100 CAD, whichever is greater.

You may stop using Tipped at any time. You can delete your account and all associated data through the Settings page.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, submit fraudulent data, or engage in activity that harms the platform or its users. Where possible, we will provide notice before termination, unless immediate action is required to protect the platform.

Upon termination, your right to use the platform ceases. Sections of these terms that by their nature should survive termination (including limitation of liability, disclaimers, and governing law) will continue to apply.

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the platform shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Province of Ontario.

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the terms were last revised.
